1 Union Greys
Shirting fabrics composed of cotton warp and union weft which may contain from 5 per cent up to 50 per cent of wool and the remainder cotton. The wool is dyed before it is mixed with the cotton and spun into weft, which gives the cloth the appearance of having been made from dyed yarns. A fair example is made 31-in., 60 yards, 36 ends and 44 picks per inch, 20's cotton warp, 7's union weft (40 per cent wool), 19-lb. After weaving, the cloth is raised only and is ready for wear. Shipped to Egypt, the Continent and much used in the Home and Colonial trade.
